How to Condition your Friction calls
How to properly condition your Rock Creek Calls friction calls to achieve the best performance. This conditioning process applies equally to either the D.O.A. or the Beard Buster Series.
Glass Calls
Take the included stone conditioning stick and hold it with the stone facing downward against the glass surface. Apply medium, steady pressure to the back of the wooden stick, and gently slide the stone in one consistent direction across the entire calling surface. Continue this motion repeatedly until the glass is scuffed to your preferred texture, which will enhance your call’s responsiveness. You can easily refresh the surface in the field by repeating this step as needed to maintain optimal performance.
Slate Calls
Using the included ScotchBrite pad, place it flat on the surface of the call. With medium pressure, slide the pad in one consistent direction from one edge of the call to the opposite side. As you continue, you’ll notice light scuff marks beginning to form on the slate surface. Increase the pressure gradually if necessary, and repeat the motion until the slate is scuffed to the desired level to ensure a crisp and clear sound.
Aluminum Calls
Similarly, take the provided ScotchBrite pad and lay it evenly on the aluminum calling surface. Apply medium pressure and slide the pad in one steady direction from one side of the call to the other. You will see scuff marks gradually develop on the aluminum, improving the friction necessary for an effective call. Apply more pressure as needed, and continue the process until the surface has been scuffed to your satisfaction, providing a sharp and reliable response every time.
By following these detailed conditioning steps, you will keep your Rock Creek friction calls in top working condition, ensuring dependable performance at home or in the field.
